PROGRESS (Program for Research and Outreach on Gender Equity in Society) Workshop
When: Saturday, May 7, 2011; 8:30am - 1:00pm
Where: Carnegie Mellon University (8:30 AM - 1 PM)
PROGRESS (Program for Research and Outreach on Gender Equity in Society) strives to examine and address the critical issue of gender inequity by providing negotiation tools and sound academic research that empower all women and girls to reach their full potential. This is a fun and interactive day for girls and a not to be missed event for women!

Prepare to Care: Discover, Explore, Connect introduces high school girls, who have completed 8th-12th grades as of June 2011, to the fields of health science, including medicine, nursing, physician assistant, perfusion technology, physical therapy and biomedical research. Prepare to Care gives more than a glimpse into healthcare professions and college life. Attending this workshop prepares girls to better choose a field that suits their interests. Students have the unique opportunity to spend time in Carlow’s new state-of-the-art Nursing Skills Lab. The workshop also includes team building to boost confidence. Attendees will visit Children’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital and UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
When: June 28, 29, 30, 2011; 8:30a.m.-4:00p.m.
Cost: $225.00 ($25.00 discount if paid in full by June 1st.)

Summer Science Nation is a three day program that introduces girls who have completed 8th-12th grades as of June 2011 to career options in science. Through hands-on lab experiments, field trips to Pittsburgh’s research and industry facilities, and meetings with scientists in the field, girls will see the broad range of opportunities in science that are available- and meet women succeeding in these careers. You will visit PPG, Heinz Innovation Center and the McGowan Center for Regenerative Medicine.
When: July 12, 13, 14, 2011; 8:30a.m.-4:00p.m.
Cost: $225.00 ($25.00 discount if paid in full by June 1st.)

ECO Camp- Environmental Career Opportunities is a three day program for girls who have completed 8th-12th grades (as of June 2011) that introduces them to “green” careers. Through hands-on labs, seminars, and field trips to Pittsburgh locations where environmentally friendly work is being done, you’ll discover the broad range of opportunities in these booming fields. You’ll meet other girls like you who are eager to explore creative ways they can improve and sustain the health of the planet through fields like science, art, conservation and industry.
When: July 19, 20, 21, 2011; 8:30a.m.-4:00p.m.
